We’ve known that keeping our skin moisturized is crucial to creating healthy skin and a healthy skin care routine. However, sometimes you may be experiencing dryness in certain areas like your eyes and could be finding that using the same moisturizer you use all over just isn’t cutting it. There are actually a lot of reasons why that could be happening. If you need to start moisturizing dry eyes, we’re sharing some of our favorite tips we’ve discovered to help get you more moisture so you don’t have to deal with the frustration anymore.
Why Your Eyes May Be Drier
Many skin care experts have said that the skin around our eyes is much more delicate and sensitive than the rest of the skin. Plus, it’s put under more stress with makeup application/removal, all the movement your eyes do throughout the day, not to mention if you suffer from allergies. All of these are also major factors for why the eye area is prone to dark circles, puffiness and wrinkles easily. Additionally, the eye area of your skin doesn’t have the oil gland that the rest of your skin does that keeps skin more moisturized.
Incorporating an Eye Cream
Experts continue to suggest adding a product that’s specifically formulated for the eye area, like an eye cream, into your skin care routine. Because the skin around the eyes is so different than the rest of your skin it has different needs. So using the moisturizer you use all over likely isn’t cutting it. Most eye creams are thicker and filled with more moisturizing ingredients and emollients that really help to target and bring a lot of moisture to the eyes. Since eye creams are specifically formulated for the eye area they’re created to be thick enough to bring additional moisture to the skin but also delicate enough to cater to the delicate skin around the eyes. Many have found that because facial moisturizers are formulated differently they can be too harsh on the eye area and actually cause more irritation than benefit.
Since the eye area is often referred to as an area that shows signs of aging very soon, it’s really important that you take care of the dryness you could be experiencing as soon as possible. We know that dry skin tends to appear older and emphasize wrinkles a lot quicker than skin that’s hydrated and moisturized the right amount. If you’re not sure what eye cream to add into your skin care routine, try a few different brands and options. If you still can’t seem to find one that fits your needs, consult your trusted skin care professional for suggestions. There are so many options when it comes to skin care now that it can be overwhelming. Consider what price point you’re comfortable with, and if natural ingredients are important to you, and some of those factors can help eliminate some of the overwhelm.
