Tips For Looking Bright-Eyed When You’re Not

We’ve all had those days, or even weeks, where we just didn’t feel so bright eyed and bushy tailed heading into work.  Maybe the kids kept you up, or maybe you just had a hard time getting enough sleep.  Whatever the reason, there’s nothing worse than heading out of the house and people asking “are you ok? You don’t look so good” when we’re extremely tired.  Most of us, if we’re honest, have tried to find ways to hide that tired look, but just can’t seem to get a good trick to work.  If this sounds like you, you’re in luck because we found some great tips for looking bright eyed when you’re not.

There are so many different skincare and makeup products out on the market that claim to help you look more awake, even when you’re not.  You’ve probably heard of the old cucumber trick, among plenty of others.  But they don’t really work in the way that most of us hoped.  The thing is, when we’re tired the last thing we really want to do is spend a ton of time applying a bunch of different makeup and skin care products because, well… we’re tired.  Odds are, you probably struggled to even get up in the morning, so really who wants to spend time and energy on all these steps.

Well, you’re in luck because we actually discovered one makeup tips (yes, one) that’s been found to help you look awake even if you’re not.  The good news?  It’s literally one product and one step.  You think we’re joking, don’t you?  Well, we’re not!  The simple step to looking bright eyed when you’re not is simply by applying a nude or flesh colored eyeliner to the inner rim of your lower lash line.  Seriously, it’s that easy!  While many people were talking about using a white liner in this area to look more awake for a while, experts suggest that the white looks almost too bright/harsh on the eyes and not quite natural.  Instead, using a nude color liner gives you that natural awake look.

It really is that easy!  We’ve also found that applying some mascara to open the eyes, and a light application of concealer that’s 1-2 shades lighter than your skin tone under the eyes are great ways to also add to that awake look.  One thing that we have noticed is that applying too much makeup to your face to try to cover that tired look, can have a reverse effect.  So just use a few key products in the right way, and you’re sure to fool everyone you’re actually tired.

Of course, it is important to make sure you’re not always needing to resort to using these tips to look more awake.  We get that life happens and sometimes getting enough sleep just doesn’t happen, but make sure it’s not a regular thing… beauty sleep is called beauty sleep for a reason, after all!
