If you struggle with blackheads, you know what it’s like to feel frustrated with trying to figure out how to eliminate them. It often feels like just when your skin is clear a pimple or blackhead will appear. Where do these blackheads come from? And more importantly, how do we get rid of them and prevent them from coming back? We’re going to get you all the details so you’re able to take care of those blackheads once and for all!
So blackheads are basically just oil trapped in your skin’s pores. Because the oil gets trapped in your pores, it becomes thicker in consistency and gives the blackhead appearance. While your natural instinct is probably to try squeezing and pinching at the blackheads, skin care experts everywhere suggest that’s NOT the answer to your blackhead problems. Instead, there are some much healthier ways to help your skin get rid of the blackheads and keep your skin looking its best.
Exfoliating is a huge key to getting rid of blackheads. Because exfoliating is a process that gets rid of dead skin cells and softening the skin, it helps get rid of the excess oil and dirt on your skin in a much more effective way. It’s basically a way to get a deeper clean on your skin, where if you’re already cleansing daily and it’s still not eliminating the blackheads the addition of exfoliation can be really helpful. Plus exfoliation is just a great skin care step to add regardless!
Steaming is another effective way to eliminate and prevent blackheads from appearing. Simply using warm water in a bowl, and adding lemon or a favorite herb of yours, placing your face over the bowl with a towel over your head is an easy way to steam your skin. It’s a great way to really open up your pores and soften the skin, allowing the oil and dirt to be removed more naturally. Plus, it’s a super easy thing to do and great for your skin!
Additionally, it’s important to take note of what skin care and makeup products you’re using when you’re more susceptible to blackheads. Using products that are too heavy can have a reverse effect on your skin. If you’re dealing with blackheads, your skin is already fairly oily, so adding products that are super heavy and creamy can increase the oil production in your skin. Since you don’t need more oil, this is where problems can arise. Instead, opt for lighter weight skin care and makeup products. Even using makeup and/or makeup removers that are oil free so, again, you’re not adding additional oil to your skin.
Of course, if you’re dealing with blackheads it goes without saying that you need to be removing your makeup EVERY single night and on a regular cleansing schedule. Those are skin care tips that go for every woman, but especially crucial when you have blackheads often. Since you tend to have oil blocked in your pores, making sure you’re eliminating anything that could increase that is important.
