Causes of Wrinkles and Premature Aging

There are fewer things most of us fear more than the idea of getting older, especially premature aging and wrinkles.  While many of us have an underlying fear of these things happening to us, we don’t all know the causes of wrinkles and premature aging.  So, since we know you don’t want to deal with any of these things for as long as possible we decided to do a little research to find out what some of the causes are so you can start making sure you avoid them at all costs.

Careful of the Eye Area
The area of skin around your eyes is one of the most delicate areas of skin on the body and one of the first areas to show signs of aging.  One of the mistakes that many people make without realizing it is they’re just too rough on the skin around their eyes.  It’s important to avoid pulling the skin and rubbing it too often, as it can have a really huge effect on your skin and its aging process.  So basically, be EXTRA gentle on the skin around your eyes.

Not Getting Enough Sleep
Sleep can have a major factor on your skin ages (among many other health factors).  Essentially, while we’re asleep our body works to repair itself.  So when we don’t get enough sleep our body doesn’t get a chance to repair itself which has been found to increase the appearance of wrinkles and aging earlier.  You know how when you sleep very little your skin looks very dull and you typically have bags under your eyes?  Well, when we do that too often our skin can essentially stay in that dull/tired phase when we don’t get enough sleep.

Lifestyle Habits
Other major causes of wrinkles and premature aging are lifestyle habits like smoking, drinking too much alcohol and consistent sunbathers.  All of these habits are known to cause premature aging and wrinkles because of what they’re known to do to the skin.  In fact, most experts have said that smoking and too much sun exposure are the biggest causes of premature aging.  Additionally, since these are more lifestyle habit based, they’re things you do on a regular basis which is really what leads to the premature aging to result.

While aging is inevitable to some degree, no one wants to age prematurely.  If you notice that you fit into one of these main categories that cause premature aging and wrinkles it’s a wise choice to consider what adjustments you’re willing to make to change them.  Of course, there are other causes that can be a result of premature aging like medication, health, and diet/nutrition, experts suggest that the three mentioned above really have the biggest impacts on premature aging to result.  Since our skin is the largest organ in our bodies, it’s important that we take care of it as best we can.  So get your sleep, avoid negative lifestyle habits, and be gentle!
