When it comes to Astrology, there are many questions about where each individual sign of the zodiac had gotten its beginnings, and how it came to be. Today, Lionesse would like to put a special focus on the history surrounding the Gemini sign – as this is our Gemini week, after all – and delve into the history behind this sign, and how it got its beginnings. Let’s take a closer look at everything Gemini from the beginning till the present day.
The History Behind the Name
The name Gemini comes from the Latin word meaning ‘twins’. It was used in Roman Mythology, and Gemini is considered the third sign of the zodiac amongst the 12 signs, designated to reign over May 21st – June 21st each year. Mercury is considered to be the ruler over Gemini. There are two stars within the constellation which comprise Gemini, known as the two brightest within this designated constellation, Castor and Pollux, for whom the constellation and sign represent. They are considered to be the two mythological sons of Queen Leda, the wife of Spartan King Tyndareus, and was deeply admired and adored by the Greek god Zeus. One son was said to be mortal, while the other son was said to be immortal. There are many stars which make up the entire constellation, but there are 7 main stars that draw out the lines of Gemini.
Gemini in Today’s World
The Gemini in today’s world signifies a genre of those who fall under the astrological sign, rather than the history revolving around the sign itself. Many people check their daily horoscopes and live by them in 2015, depending upon this advice from renowned psychics for major and even minor life decisions.
The Gemini personality is unlike any other within the zodiac, because those who are classified as Gemini personalities are two toned. This means, they are said to have split personalities, so to speak, in that they are never the same from one day to the next. They are outgoing and outspoken, fun to be around, witty, sarcastic, happy and bubbly. On the other hand, they have their moments where they are also introverted, keep to themselves, and are shrouded in an air of mystery. The Gemini is very fashion forward and they usually love to have a lot of stylish clothes on hand. At the same time, they tend to opt for signature items that they can splurge on, yet use quite a bit with different outfits.
Gemini women love to indulge in jewelry for their hands, wrists, and fingers being that their hands are ruled by their sign. They tend to have beautiful hands, and love to show them off.
A Gemini woman looks fabulous with an edgy, cutting edge hair style, or long, beautiful waves. It’s all dependent upon whether or not they are more girly or are the sportier type. Yellow tends to look fantastic on the Gemini woman, and should be worn in cosmetics as an accent on the eyes, and also in clothing color choices.
