Labor Day is quickly approaching and you probably have a few parties to attend, or perhaps throw for yourself. Getting together with loved ones is always a blast, especially one last time before we say goodbye to summer for a while. The downside of parties is they’re generally filled with foods that aren’t all that healthy, and may even lead to you suffering from breakouts and skin irritation in the days following the party. We wanted to help you enjoy your Labor Day AND the days following the festivities, so we’ve put together a of Labor Day appetizers that won’t break you out.
Dips are a great appetizer for parties, they’re easy to put together and they can often feed quite a few people with minimal effort. We came across this Greek layer dip, which is perfect for a healthy appetizer that won’t break you out. To create the Greek dip simply combine a container of hummus, about ½ cup of Greek yogurt, 1 diced tomato, ½ diced cucumber, 1/3-1/2 cup of feta cheese, ¼ cup of Kalamata olives (preferably chopped), and 2-3 tablespoons of fresh parsley (chopped). Combine the ingredients in layer form to create layers of each flavor. Then add pita chips and/or veggies to dip into the dip.
This appetizer has been EVERYWHERE on Pinterest, with good reason! It’s incredibly easy to put together and it’s filled with ingredients that not only taste great but are loaded with nutrients that won’t break you out. Simply combine olive oil, white wine vinegar, chili powder, salt, tomatoes, black-eyed peas, black beans, corn, onion, green and red bell pepper, and cilantro. Everything that needs to be should be chopped. Just mix everything together and serve with crackers or pita chips for a healthier option to dip into. It’s like a different type of salsa!
