If you’re over 40, you certainly don’t want to feel like you can’t feel fabulous any more, and there’s no reason you can’t! There are, however, some changes you should make to your skincare routine to continue to look as fabulous as you are. As we age, our skin changes, so adapting and incorporating certain skin care tips is essential to aging with grace. We believe you can look and feel fabulous regardless of your age, which is why we’re sharing some of our favorite skincare tips for the 40 & fabulous folks!
Get Your Sun Protection in Check
It is said that by the time you reach your 40’s you start to notice some sun damage that you may have experienced earlier in your life. Which means it’s time to really get serious about sun protection from this point on, even if you already have some sun damage you don’t want to get anymore! In turn, many experts suggest that it’s totally possible to undo a lot of the sun damage with the use of great skin care products that are both prescription and non-prescription strength. It’s also time to start incorporating sunscreen as often and strategically as possible. Making the switch from one makeup brand to one that also includes SPF in their products can be a really incredible way to do that. Plus, most mineral based makeup brands that do add SPF to their products are going to be really great for your skin (soothing and hold other great skin care benefits).
Get Your Hydration On, Girl!
Hydration is important for everyone, but it’s even MORE crucial after you pass 40. Typically, those that show signs of aging first are because their skin lacks the necessary hydration. Using products like facial oils and/or really great moisturizing products are going to do wonders for keeping your skin hydrated and YOU looking fabulous well into your 40’s. As we get older, our skin starts to lose a lot of its natural oil and hydration, so we need to replace it and encourage it through the use of other products and of course drinking LOTS of water.
You GOTTA Exfoliate
Just like hydration, exfoliating is important for everyone, but again it’s going to be even more important once you pass 40. Using an exfoliation product that’s going to get any dead skin cells and grime off your skin, but gentle and soothing enough to ease your skin is important. Luckily, there are a TON of exfoliating products that are made specifically to help promote your skin cells to turnover and become refreshed (hello, looking youthful!).
Many skin care experts suggest getting in for regular facials and other skin care treatments once you pass 40. This is a great way to maintain your skincare and your skin care experts can suggest any changes that need to be made, and provide treatments you can accomplish at home. Plus, you’re fabulous and deserve a little more pampering!
