Use the Right Kind of Moisturizer

When our skin is lacking moisture and hydration it begins to suffer in appearance, and the skin’s barrier becomes less healthy. However, it’s not just about applying a moisturizer to your skin – you need to make sure that the moisturizer that you are applying is the right kind. What do we mean? Well, you want to make sure you’re using a quality moisturizing product, that’s designed to work with your skin’s type. Typically those with oily skin are going to want to look for moisturizers that are lightweight, while those with dry skin will need something heavier. This will help your skin better absorb the moisturizer that you’re applying to your skin, so you can make sure you’re really maintaining a healthy skin barrier.
So many of us tend to fall into the habit of eating foods that aren’t necessarily all that great for us. We get it, life gets crazy! However, to really maintain a healthy skin barrier you’re going to want to look at ways you can start cleaning up your diet and have it consisting of a well-balanced diet. Avoid Hot Water
Seem odd? Another common habit so many of us fall into is using hot water when washing our hands and taking a shower/bath. But the problem with that is hot water can be harsh on our skin and its barrier, and actually strip our skin of its natural oils – preventing us from being able to maintain a healthy skin barrier. Instead, make sure you’re sticking to lukewarm to warm water.
